NASHVILLE, TN- Want to get your music-making high school kids out of the garage and into the spotlight? Encourage them to enter The Battle of the Bands competition sponsored by the Muzak heart & soul foundation of Muzak. The Battle of the Bands benefits students interested in the music industry by giving them the opportunity to be recognized and perfect their performance skills.
"Just to be part of the Battle, each band has to complete a pretty rigorous -- and educational -- process," said Neely Vasher, Muzak heart & soul Foundation business manager. "They have to register their band online, including submitting an online press kit, and audition for a panel of judges. They'll be so much more experienced than many of their peers when they try to break into the competitive music business," said Vasher.
The competition is open to all high school bands of any genre. The Battle of the Bands kicks off on March 29th, 2008 at Rocketown. Entries must be made by made online at http://e2ma.net/go/892401999/778400/27989334/goto:http://www.heart.muzak.com/ by February 13, 2008.
Bands will be judged by a panel of industry experts at a preliminary round on February. The top three bands will receive one of three prize packages that will propel students even further along their career paths. First prize includes:
16 hours of recording studio time at The Castle Recording Studio to create a professionally-recordeddemo
One-year Sonicbids subscription
One-year Onlinegigs subscription
One song played within a Muzak program that is heard by over 100 million people every day
$100 gift certificate from Sam Ash Music
One copy of Battle of the Bands Video Production for personal promotional use
300 copies of their demo

All proceeds from the event benefit 'Noise!", a unique program for teens who long to understand and someday be a part of the music industry. At Noise! 32 teens 15-17 years old, selected from across the country, participate in a two-week program where they learn from top professionals in all areas of the music industry.
Students receive a full scholarship to attend Noise! which will take place July 15-25, 2008 in Nashville.The program includes educational seminars and jam sessions with big names in the music industry. Noise! is life altering, mind-bending and dream inspiring. Teens learn from a wide range of role models including artist managers, record label producers, music critics, audio architects and other industry insiders.
