NASHVILLE, TN -- The Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation is calling for entries from high school bands of any genre for their first Nashville Battle of the Bands competition. The competition itself will be held Saturday, March 29 at Rocketown and features a terrific prize package for the winning band.
Bands should enter online at http://www.heart.muzak.com/ by February 13. All bands that register online will have the opportunity to audition. Eight bands will be chosen for the final round. Bands may submit promotional materials online at http://www.heart.muzak.com/.
Each band is required to have 2 - 8 band members; at least 2 band members must be in high school. No more than 50% of each band can perform with another band. Only pre-registered bands are permitted to play and must use backline and drums that are provided by the competition. Entry fee must be paid online by credit card and is non-refundable.
A panel of industry experts will judge bands in a preliminary round in February. The top three bands will receive prizes that will propel students even further along their career paths. First prize includes:
~ 16 hours of recording studio time at The Castle Recording Studio to create a professionally-recorded demo
~ One-year Sonicbids subscription
~ One-year Onlinegigs subscription
~ One song played within a Muzak program that is heard by more than 100 million people every day
~ $100 gift certificate from Sam Ash Music
~ One copy of the Battle of the Bands video production for personal promotional use
~ 300 copies of their demo
Questions about the competition may be directed to Cathy Gurley at 615 269.0474.
